The National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 has been hailed for its reformative approach to school and college education in the country but the crucial issues of increasing access and improving the quality of such education remain unresolved. India has 6 million out of school children and the average enrolment ratio for a college education is still less than 25% with less than 10% of graduates, which is reflective of the abysmal outreach and impact of our education system.
It is thus necessary to understand if NEP, 2020 will be enough for ensuring an equitable system of education, or will it only increase the existing disparity by making quality education even more expensive?
